About
PAMIS is a registered charity working with families across Scotland caring for a relative with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) and complex health needs. and their families. Our services and projects (all free of charge) include:
- Family Support Services – information and support to children and adults with PMLD and their families, and training programmes on a range of topics.
- Information & Library Service – advice and information, newsletters, and a Scotland-wide library, including a large collection of accessible multi-sensory stories.
- Transition Pathways & Futures Project – support to people with PMLD and their families through the transition from school to adult life.
- Personal Communication Passports – produce these compact, attractive documents that provide personal & medical information on the person with PMLD.
- Research – includes developing bereavement resources and producing consensus guidelines on invasive procedures.
- Campaigning & Advocacy – many campaigns to influence policy and services, e.g. Changing Places, a UK wide campaign for fully accessible toilets.
- Partnership working - a member of: Scottish Consortium for Learning Disability (SCLD); Cross Party Group on Learning Disability (Holyrood); Specific syndrome groups.
